{ sixty is nifty }

We had the fun opportunity to host Brian's family at our house this past weekend
because TIM KURZ TURNED 60!!  

The brothers put their heads together about a month ago
and decided to surprise Timmy J with a birthday bash/roast.
There is truly nothing more fun than an extended Kurz family gathering,
so of course I jumped at the chance to host (….when no one else could.  HA!!!)

A few weeks before hand, we started gathering photos and stories,
hoping to put together a video and some decorations.
Let me tell you, those old photos did not disappoint.

Those pictures are total gems, right???

Unfortunately on the day of the party, we got almost 4 inches of snow,
which caused some travel issues for some of our family who live hours away.
We sure did miss them!

I had imagined this perfectly executed surprise where everyone would arrive,
have plenty of time for appetizers and drinks,
tell a few stories and then Tim would arrive for the BIG SURPRISE.
However, with the weather, it didn't quite play out that way.
Tim and Kathy actually showed up about 30 minutes before the party time
because they were nervous about the roads.
So, no big reveal…but the girls still had time to play with these...

 

The guests started arriving shortly after
and I think it's safe to say that Tim was indeed surprised.

We enjoyed way too much food and then took turns "roasting" Tim.

Of course the Spalding Family came through in all-star fashion
with a Duck Dynasty themed song to the tune of "Oh, Suzanna".

 

Followed by a HILARIOUS game of G-PA-DY
(think Jeopardy, but all the categories were about Tim).

 

Then we serenaded him with Happy Birthday,
and the kids even added the cha-cha-chas.

It was a great night.
