So, April Fools Day.
The day for silly jokes and premeditated pranks.
And a day when my seven year old DESPERATELY wanted to pull off an epic trick.
And I am so lame.
SO terribly lame.
That I had to browse Pinterest for an easy kid-friendly prank.
And of course we found one. (Thanks, Pinterest!)
I made a pan of brownies for her to take to school.
But these were not chewy, chocolatey BROWNIES.
They were starchy, construction paper, BROWN letter E's.
heh.heh.heh.
Hannah was so proud. Sooooooo excited to pull a fast one.
She took those brown e's and gave them to her teacher, who promptly sent me this message:
HAHAHAHAHA!!! We got her!!!!!
(The day after, I was supposed to bring treats for the class Easter party, so she thought I was early)
(Clearly she doesn't know me THAT well. I'm never early for anything!!)
Anywho, I was so excited for Hannah. The little joker pulled it off!!!!
Then a couple of hours later, I got a text that basically said this:
"I just lifted the "brownie" pan off my desk. I HATE THIS DAY"
and later…
"It's not nice to mess with a girl's chocolate!"
(amen, sister)
A couple of hours later, this picture arrived via text (all the Brown E's in Hannah's locker):
And then shortly after that…this picture….
Of Hannah, opening a pan of REAL BROWNIES.
What the what????
Her face says it all.
Somehow, some way, the resourceful Mrs. Klusmeyer found someone to bake brownies in the same pan.
During the school day.
In time to shock my little prankster.
She was absolutely and utterly gobsmacked. Flummoxed.
(But on the bright side, she said the brownies were delish.)
The confused look was still plastered on her face when she got off the school bus with the empty pan.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?!?!?!
All I can say is WELL PLAYED, Mrs. Klusmeyer.
WELL PLAYED.
I had just a teeny prank of my own for dinner that night when we had meatloaf and mashed potato cupcakes. The reaction to these was a little more positive.
HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!!!
