Spring is here!
What a beautiful spring is has been, too.
The flowering trees started blooming and the temps stayed reasonably cool,
so we've gotten to enjoy the gorgeous dogwoods, crabapples, and azaleas for a few weeks!
This past weekend was the annual Dogwood Festival in Quincy.
And the Dogwood trees along Maine Street were certainly the star of the show!

Pink and white - both were just stunning!!

On the lawn of the Quincy Museum. Simply gorgeous.

We were lucky to find some friends to sit with and of course we made them pose for a picture.

This Dogwood Festival was particularly special
as Quincy is celebrating it's 175th Anniversary this year!
The parade had great participation and was almost 3 hours long!!!

I loved sitting under the giant canopy of trees on Maine Street.
Admiring the beautiful historic homes.
Enjoying the perfect weather.

Our "group" of spectators.

I took a photo of this beautifully restored Massey-Ferguson because Brian thinks it's the same model as his dad's farm tractor.
G-Pa's copy is a little less shiny, though.

This house. I mean, so gorgeous, isn't it?!?

I thought this float was pretty creative with the fire made from balloons.
I think they won an award for this.

Of course I had to snap a picture of Wildcat Willie!!
It's been neat to be back so close to Brian's and my undergraduate roots at Culver.
Brian has really enjoyed his adjunct professorship there, too.

Then there's this kid.
I don't even know what to say about this.
Except that this photo will likely resurface in about 16 years at a high school graduation party.

Luke sure did enjoy the parade.
ESPECIALLY the horses.
When the first drawn carriage came down the street, Luke SPRINTED towards them.
Brian hurdled a lawn chair and took out another kid to stop Luke from attacking the horses.
By the time these miniature ponies came down the street, he had calmed down just a bit.
But man, oh man. This kid loves horses!!!!

We were all excited to see our friend Jillian representing Ursa.
She was near the end of the parade but it was worth the wait to see her having so much fun!
Happy 175th Anniversary, Quincy!
You sure do throw a fun party.
